The Corticeus Piller & Mitterpacher, 1783 from the fauna of France (COLEOPTERA, TENEBRIONIDAE, DIAPERINAE)
Abstract
The authors present an updated work to identify the Corticeus Piller et Mitterpacher, 1783 (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae) of the French fauna. Ecology of all species is detailed as well as bark beetle hosts (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) and inhabited trees. A bilingual key to species (French / English), distribution maps and illustrations of all species are presented, including photographs of Corticeus fusciventris Reitter, 1884 and Hypophloeus leonhardi (Reitter, 1906) holotypes who correspond to the first illustrations published. Corticeus fraxini (Kugelann, 1794) is confirmed in French mainland, in two ice age valleys of Haute-Savoie. C. fusciventris Reitter, 1884 is considered here as a potential species in
Mediterranean France. Synonymy between C. pini (Panzer, 1799) and C. leonhardi (Reitter, 1906) is confirmed.
