Abstract
The weevil genus Magdalis Germar, 1817 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) includes arboreal species whose larvae develop under the bark of various tree species. This study presents an updated overview of Magdalis in Denmark, recognizing 14 currently recorded species and propose five additional species likely to expand into the country in the near future due to climaterelated range shifts. To facilitate research of species within Denmark’s changing local fauna, we provide succinct information about the genus as a whole and more detailed accounts for all species currently known and expected in Denmark, including a dichotomous key for their identification. Simultaneously, a better illustrated version of all these elements is made available as a set of hyperlinked pages in the online Danish Beetle Bank (www.billebank.dk). Additionally, distribution maps for all Magdalis species recorded or expected in Denmark were created in the Danish Beetle Bank using GBIF data and regional catalogues, and for selected taxa they were compared with the host plant distributions to highlight potential knowledge gaps about beetle distributions.
