Abstract
A picture key is presented for a total of 25 species and subspecies of the Nanophyini (Curculionoidea: Nanophyinae) from the Western Palearctic for the first time. Habitus of males and females as well as the aedeagus are illustrated (focus stacking). The distribution and the respective host plants of each species are named.
The following new synonyms are established: Microon sahlbergi (C.R. Sahlberg, 1835) = Nanodes villaticus Gistel, 1857: 17 syn. nov.; Nanophyes marmoratus marmoratus (Goeze, 1777) = Nanodes triptolemus Gistel, 1857: 17 syn. nov. and Nanophyes globulus (Germar, 1821) = Nanophyes suavis Gistel, 1857: 17 syn. nov. It is suggested to review the possible synonyms (especially molecular): Nanomimus yvonnae (A. Hoffmann, 1932), Nanophyes = Nanomimus smreczynski (Dieckmann, 1963) and Nanophyes Schoenherr, 1838 = Nanomimus Alonso-Zarazaga, 1989. - The picture key is intended as a prelude for further studies as part of the compilation of an Internet catalogue to the Nanophyinae (Corimaliini and Nanophyini) from the beginning of 2024: Stüben, P.E. & Schön, K. (first published: 1.1.2024): Nanophyinae of the Western Palearctic - Le Charançon. Catalogues & Keys, No. 7, https://nanophyinae.curci.de/, Curculio-Institute, Mönchengladbach, Germany.
