The Anamorphidae are a small group of tiny fungus-feeding beetles within the superfamily Coccinelloidea, found worldwide and characterised by a predominantly oval to hemispherical body. The entire family is exclusively associated with fungi – both adults and larvae feed on fungal spores, and its members are therefore classified as mycophagous. Members of the family are found throughout the world, with the greatest species diversity concentrated in tropical regions. In the Czech Republic, only two species of the family Anamorphidae are present. These tiny, dark-coloured beetles are most commonly found under the bark of dead trees or in tree hollows, where they seek out fungal spore-bearing structures. For a long time, the family was part of the Endomychidae family, as the subfamily Anamorphinae; however, since 2015, based on modern phylogenetic analyses, it has been recognised as a separate family within the superfamily Coccinelloidea.
